Alexander Karantzalis is the managing partner of AK Esquire’s Business and Civil litigation department in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale Office. Matthew Z. Karim is the managing partner of AK Esquire’s Criminal and Family Law department in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale Office. He practices Criminal law and Family Law. He has worked in matters of civil commitment hearings, the juvenile court system, and criminal litigation. He is available to assist in matters in Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Lee, and Collier County. Mr. Karim has written and lectured on legal topics relating to issues in defending crimes of strict liability and the second amendment as it relates to civil commitments and psychiatric hospitalizations of patients. He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Criminal Justice and Family Law Sections, as well as the Florida Bar Criminal Law Section.
Joseph Slawek is a Senior Litigation Associate attorney at the firm. He concentrates his practice on Family Law, Criminal Law, and Civil Litigation matters. Mr. Slawek received his undergraduate degree from Florida State University, majoring in Economics. After graduating from Florida State, Mr. Slawek worked as an accountant for a Property Management firm in Miami. Thereafter, Mr. Slawek attended St. Thomas University College of Law, where he was awarded a Merritt scholarship, and received his Juris Doctorate. During law school, Mr. Slawek was a member of the Family Law Society and interned for a non-profit organization helping refugees apply for asylum. Mr. Slawek is a Fort Lauderdale native and attended Saint Thomas Aquinas High School where he was a two-way starter for the state champion football team.

She provides invaluable assistance in being the gatekeeper, liason, and ultimate team player. Ali's family background consists of real estate and mortgages for apartments and homes in Broward County. She grew up in Hollywood, Florida where she enjoys living the Floridian lifestyle with her family. Currently, Ali is studying to become a licensed realtor to help future homeowners find their dream home.
